Senior Roto Artist – Feature Film VFX

CINETISM is looking for experienced Senior Roto Artists to join our team for ongoing feature-film and high-end VFX projects.

We are looking for artists who can create precise, stable and production-ready mattes while maintaining natural motion, edge quality and detail across complex shots.

The Role

As a Senior Roto Artist, you will be responsible for creating accurate roto mattes for characters, props, hair, costumes and environmental elements.

The work requires a strong understanding of anatomy, motion, perspective, edge treatment and motion blur.

You should be able to work independently and maintain high-quality roto throughout long or technically challenging shots.

Responsibilities

• Create accurate roto mattes for characters, props and environments
• Produce clean and consistent shapes across frame ranges
• Track moving subjects and articulated body parts accurately
• Maintain correct shape volume and perspective throughout motion
• Handle complex hair, clothing and overlapping elements
• Separate mattes logically for downstream compositing requirements
• Create mattes suitable for motion-blurred and hard-edge workflows
• Maintain consistent edge quality
• Handle partial occlusions and difficult intersections
• Work efficiently on long-duration shots
• Review mattes at production resolution
• Maintain organised scripts and naming conventions
• Respond efficiently to Supervisor feedback
• Deliver production-ready mattes on schedule

Requirements

• 6+ years of professional Roto / VFX experience
• Strong experience with Silhouette
• Experience with Nuke is an advantage
• Excellent understanding of human and object motion
• Strong understanding of anatomy and perspective
• Good eye for edge quality and motion blur
• Ability to create stable and accurate roto across long frame ranges
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to work independently
• Comfortable working within professional production deadlines
• Experience with feature-film or high-end episodic VFX
